Wanderung zum Terevaka und Ahu Akivi

This rewarding hike leads to the highest point of Easter Island, combining dramatic volcanic landscapes with one of Rapa Nui’s most important archaeological sites. The approximately 10.5 km route begins at the foothills of Terevaka and climbs through open grassland and a narrow natural ravine. Along the way, you pass archaeological remains before reaching the summit at around 500 m above sea level. From the top, enjoy exceptional 360° panoramic views across Easter Island and the Pacific Ocean. The trail then descends through the island’s open interior towards Ahu Akivi, whose seven moai are uniquely positioned facing the sea. With approximately 375 m of ascent and 389 m of descent, this is a moderate hike requiring good basic fitness. The terrain is predominantly natural, grassy and uneven in places, with little shade and some exposed sections.
