Crossing the Andes into Argentina
On this spectacular journey through the imposing mountain range, travellers can look forward to a true feast for the eyes, combining the majesty of nature with the region’s rich history. The tour begins on the shores of the spectacular Laguna del Inca, whose turquoise waters contrast with the snow-capped peaks, and then heads onto the legendary Ruta de los Caracoles, a winding road with challenging bends that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Chilean Andes. After crossing the border, the imposing Aconcagua Provincial Park comes into view, where adventurers can admire the highest peak in the Americas from a vantage point. The journey continues through vibrantly coloured geological formations to the historic ‘Puente del Inca’, a curious natural formation steeped in local legends and surrounded by hot springs. Further on, the Cristo Redentor monument comes into view – a symbol of peace between the two nations – before the route descends into the picturesque Uspallata Valley, an oasis at the foot of the Andes, surrounded by poplars and reddish mountains, providing the perfect prelude before entering the vibrant wine city of Mendoza.
