The view of Lima's old town from above
The guide will pick you up from your hotel and lead you to the best parts of Lima. The tour begins with a visit to Lima’s historic old town, which was declared by UNESCO as world heritage. There you will visit the Convent of Santo Domingo (dating from the sixteenth century), one of the oldest and most glorious convents in the Americas. This gives you the opportunity to see the whole Lima from above by climbing up the church tower.
Two mansions from colonial times
The tour continues with a walk to the Osambela House, an architectural jewel of peculiar construction and one of the biggest houses built in Lima during the colonial Viceroyalty in Peru's history. It has 3 levels, which was very rare for the time it was built in. It is on this very top floor where the owner used to watch the incoming ships of Callao's harbor.
Two blocks away you will find Casa Aliaga, a beautiful mansion that belongs to the same family since viceroyalty.
Lunch at the Larco Museum Cafe
Your guide will take you to the next visit point, Larco Museum. However, before the visit begins, you will have free time to enjoy a delicious Peruvian lunch (cost not included in this tour) in the museum's restaurant.
Larco Museum Visit
Afterward, you will have a walk through the Larco Museum that hosts a private collection of the finest Pre-Columbian art including gold, silver, ceramics, and textiles. Here you will be able to look back to more than 5000 years of history, to understand how close the relationship between the Pre-Columbian cultures with the "Paccha Mama" or mother nature was. This fondness and love are expressed from a range of items, from art, traditions to daily used items such as utensils.
After this visit, your guide will bring you back to your hotel.
