Cusco - Huayllabamba
We pick you up from your hotel and take a shuttle to the starting point of your hike to the KM 82 (2.650 m asl / 8.694 ft.). At the checkpoint it is important to show your ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS (no copies). On this day you will pass the archaeological complex of Patallacta, dry forests and the archaeological site of Willkaracay. You finish today's trek in the village of Huayllabamba (3.100 m asl / 10.170 ft.).
Huayllabamba - Pacaymayu
After breakfast, start with a climb. This is one of the most difficult days of the Inca Trail. You will walk up to Pass Warmiwañuska (4.250 m asl / 13943.57 ft.), where you will see the imposing peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range. Afterwards we descend again to the second camp of Pacaymayu (3.600 m asl / 11.811 ft.).
Pacaymayu - Wiñaywayna
This is the longest day of the Inca Trail, but also the most beautiful. You will observe the various ecological levels of the highlands, the fog forests and the rainforests, as well as sights such as the ruins of Runkurakay (3.760 m asl / 12.335 ft.). You walk up to the pass (3.900 m asl / 12795.28 ft.), where you take a short break to descend to the ruins of Sayacmarca (3.625 m asl / 11893.04 ft.). Afterwards you continue to the ruins of Phuyupatamarka (3.600 m asl / 11811.02 ft.). There you take a break to take some pictures of the mountains. Continue along the path leading down to the last camp, Wiñaywayna.
Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu
In the early morning, after breakfast, you will pass the checkpoint of Wiñaywayna, where your tickets will be checked and then continue to the "Puerta del Sol" (Arch of the sun), known as "Inti Punku" (2.720 m asl / 8923.88 ft.). There you will get a first glimpse of Machu Picchu. You can leave your backpacks here behind and have a little free time. Afterwards you will go to the ruins of Machu Picchu, where you, during a two-hour guided tour, will be able to reveal the magical city with all its secrets . Afterwards you have some time to explore the surroundings on your own. You will take the bus to the city "Aguas Calientes" and from there back by train to Ollantaytambo. Here you will be picked up by car and driven to Cusco.
