Cruz del Condor and visit to the termal springs
Today you have to get up early to be able to see the king of the Andes, the condor, one of the landmarks of Peru, in its natural environment. Cruz del Condor viewpoint is the most popular place for condor’s watching. At this point the canyon floor is 1,200 meters below the rim of the canyon.
Afterwards you take a short hike along the edge of the canyon and continue to the lookout point "Antahuilque", from where you have a very good view of more than 1,500 years old pre-Inca terraces. After returning to Chivay village for lunch we return to the hotel.
In the afternoon you visit the natural thermal baths, which are located between the mountains. Overnight stay in Colca.
Drive to Colca Canyon
The Colca Canyon is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. The area surrounding the Canyon is famed for its traditional and colourful towns which you will pass through along the way. In the Canyon you can find over 100 kinds of birds, over 300 types of plants and more than 30 types of cactus. The highest point of the Canyon is Ampato at 6388 meters above sea level. These snow-capped peaks form an impressive backdrop to the Canyon.On the way to the Colca Valley you can admire vicuñas, the rarest South American camel species. You can enjoy the incomparable valley view and various villages during the trip. In the afternoon, your guide invites you to take a short hike, after which you will be taken to your hotel. Drive to Arequipa
After breakfast you will set off for Arequipa. On the way you can watch how the landscape changes little by little; from the rather barren landscape of the Altiplano to the green terraces of the Colca Valley. The rest of the day is at your own disposal.
