From colonial forts to the Pacific rainforest: Ancud and the National Park
This carefully curated itinerary takes discerning travellers to two of the region’s most fascinating highlights in the north and west: Ancud and Chiloé National Park. Our journey begins in the historic port city of Ancud, where we delve deep into its colonial past. Whilst visiting the historic San Antonio Fort, we enjoy sweeping panoramic views across the ocean, whilst the detailed exhibitions on masterful timber architecture offer a deep insight into the region’s cultural heritage. We then head straight into the unspoilt natural beauty of Chiloé National Park. This impressive protected area captivates visitors with its immense biodiversity. We hike along beautifully laid-out trails through the mystical Valdivian rainforest, characterised by giant ferns, thick mosses and centuries-old trees. The route takes us past the idyllic Lake Cucao to the vast coastal dunes, where the dense forest meets the wild Pacific Ocean in a spectacular display.
