Day 1

Flight from Quito to Coca

Your journey begins with a 40-minute flight over the Andes mountains from Quito to Coca.

Arrival in Coca

Upon arrival in Coca (bus station or airport), you will be met by your local tour guide. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the opportunity to have breakfast at “Maitos del Yasuní,” a typical restaurant founded by the Challuwa Mikuna Association to benefit indigenous women (not included in the price).

We will then begin a 1 hour and 45 minute drive by land transport and another 1.5 hour trip by motorized canoe on the Tiputini River. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will have time to familiarize yourself with the facilities and settle into your accommodation. Enjoy a welcome drink before a delicious lunch is served in the main house.

Hike: Ceibo Trail

In the afternoon, we cross the Tipuitini River and take a two-hour walk along the Ceibo Trail. We return to the lodge around 6 p.m.

After a delicious dinner at our lodge, we can take part in a night walk through the jungle. This unique experience allows us to observe the nocturnal animals of the Amazon, including frogs, snakes, and other wildlife that only emerge after dark. With the help of our guide and a flashlight, we hike along the trail and listen to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 2

Hike along the Spider Monkey Trail

Wake up to the song of exotic birds, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and get ready for a canoe trip on the Tiputini River, followed by a hike back to the lodge on the Spider Monkey Trail. Watch colorful birds, playful monkeys, and even a sloth lazily hanging from a branch as you paddle your canoe with the motor turned off. Hike through dense vegetation, cross streams and small waterfalls, and learn fascinating facts about the flora and fauna. Return to the lodge feeling exhilarated and full of energy, and reflect on your incredible adventure in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

After our morning of adventure and discovery, we return to the lodge, where a delicious lunch awaits us. After lunch, we have some time to rest and recharge our batteries for the afternoon's activities.

Cultural activities and possible night hike

Later in the day, we will have the opportunity to learn more about the local culture through exciting and interactive cultural activities. Weaving is an integral part of indigenous culture in the Amazon region, and we will have the opportunity to make a small piece of woven fabric or a handicraft using traditional techniques and natural materials from the surrounding jungle. We will learn about the importance of sustainability and how the indigenous people of the region have lived in harmony with the environment for centuries.

Activities such as learning how to make chocolate from cocoa beans, a globally popular sweet treat, and practicing your aiming skills with a traditional blowgun are also on the agenda. These cultural activities offer a unique and authentic insight into life in the Amazon region and are sure to be a highlight of our trip.

You and your tour guide will choose together which of these activities best suit your interests, taking into account the availability of local products.

After a delicious dinner at our lodge, we can go on a night walk through the jungle. This is an optional activity.

Day 3

Hike to Anaconda Lagoon

After an early breakfast (6:30 a.m.), we cross the Tiputini River in a traditional canoe and begin a three-hour hike on a circular trail through the spectacular jungle. We reach the lagoon of the anacondas, where, with a little luck, you can observe this reptile so characteristic of the region.

We return to the lodge for lunch, and you will have time to relax in your hammock or tent, stroll around the lodge, and even cool off with a swim in a quiet tributary of the Tiputini River.

Visit to “La Casa de la Abuela” and night hike

In the evening, we will take our canoe to La Casa de la Abuela, the house of the community's founder. This traditional house is located on a 50-meter-high hill and offers an incredible view of the surrounding area. It is considered the nest of the harpy eagle in this region. Here we will learn more about life in the jungle and the history and traditions of the community, including how to make the traditional drink chicha. We will watch the incredible sunset and then hike back to our lodge.

After a delicious dinner, we can take part in a night hike on the Toucan Trail through the jungle. This unique experience allows us to observe the nocturnal animals of the Amazon, including frogs, snakes, and other wildlife that only appear after dark. With the help of our guide and a flashlight, we will hike along the trail and listen to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 4

Return trip from Coca to Quito

Breakfast is served early in the morning. We begin our journey in our motorized canoe for about an hour and a half; during the relaxing ride, you can say goodbye to the beauty of the Amazon rainforest.

Afterwards, we will be picked up at the riverbank and drive back to Coca for about an hour and a half, where you will be dropped off at the airport or bus station to return to Quito or continue on to your next destination.
