Cusco – km104 – Chachabamba – Wiñayhuayna – Machu Picchu
We will leave Cusco early in the morning as we head to the sacred valley and take the first train departing Ollantaytambo at around 6 am. After around 1.5 hours, you will reach the Kilometer 104 checkpoint where your entrance pass and ticket will be checked and registered (only originals accepted, no copies allowed). From there, the hike begins and you will pass by the archeological site of Chachabamba and continue uphill to the archaeological complex Wiñayhuayna at 2650 meters. After 3 hours of hiking, your well-deserved break includes lunch with a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu. From there, you will hike to the next checkpoint where a shuttle bus will take you to the Aguas Calientes village. You will spend the night there.
Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu Ruinen - Cusco
Right after breakfast, you will take the bus to Machu Picchu where you get to visit the ruins with your travel guide. Your trusty guide will show and explain the wonders of this site, also known as the "The Lost City" of the Inca. After the approx. 2-hour tour you will have the opportunity to explore the area independently. After that, you will take the shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where your driver will be waiting for you and take you to Cusco.
