Hike to Gocta Waterfall

Early morning, your guide will pick you up at your hotel. The Gocta Waterfall is one of the highest in the world at 771 meters which is divided into two waterfalls. This natural wonder was discovered only in 2002 by German explorer Stefan Ziemendorff and his team. What makes this tour really special besides the impressive Gocta waterfall is the surrounding landscape. During the 3 hours hike, you will pass by up to 22 smaller waterfalls before arriving at Gocta. This natural haven is still little known by tourists which allows you to enjoy nature away from the bustling crowds.

The Cocachimba community where the waterfall is located has been organized with the support of an international NGO to provide tour guide services and basic accommodations for visitors.

The hike is around 6 hours in total (three hours each way). If the tour departs early enough, you will have the opportunity to observe toucans, parrots and the famous bright orange cock-of-the-rock. Depending on the weather and the season, you can also swim in the waterfall.

Before heading back, you will have a picnic by the waterfall.
