Gordon Rock
The dive site Gordon Rocks is located north of Plazas, on the east coast of the island of Santa Cruz, and is approached from two different sides. It takes about 40 minutes by boat from Puerto Ayora or 20 minutes from the Itabaca Canal.
Playing beneath the surface at Gordon Rocks, divers will find sea turtles, tropical fish, hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, black tip- and white tip reef sharks, morays, spotted eagle rays, stingrays and playful seals.
The rock formation is famous around the world and one of the most popular dive sites on the Galapagos Islands - especially for large fish. The currents here can be strong, so this dive site is only recommended for experienced divers and a minimum of 25 logged dives are required for the dive site Gordon Rocks. The maximum depth is 30 meters and the flow conditions vary according to the season.
Water entry and exit: Divers fall backwards off the stern sides to get into the water and gather behind the boat. The return is easy - hold a solid rope on starboard, hand the sailor your equipment, and then climb up the ladder.
There are 5 dive boats, starting from Santa Cruz to the different dive sites. Depending on the day you booked a diving trip, we will book the dive boat for you on this day.
