You will travel along the Strait of Magellan to Fuerte Bulnes, a historic settlement dramatically located above the famous waterway. Along the route, you will have several opportunities to observe Patagonia’s landscapes and wildlife, including characteristic bird species of the coastal and steppe environments. At Puerto Bulnes, you will visit the reconstructed fort with its chapel, barracks, and defensive structures, gaining insight into the history of the first Chilean settlement in the Magellan region. During a guided walk through the surrounding forest and coastal landscapes, you will also explore the unique Patagonian ecosystems while searching for typical regional birdlife. In the afternoon, you will return to Punta Arenas. The vast scenery, changing light, and rugged atmosphere of the Strait of Magellan provide a memorable first impression of Patagonia.
