Hike to the Guagua Pichincha
The twin volcano of the Rucu Pichincha offers an easy hike to a summit which is only about 30m lower than Mont Blanc. The tour takes you high above Ecuador's capital with great views of the Andean highlands and the snow-capped Cayambe, Antisano and Cotopaxi as well as the twin volcano Rucu Pichincha. With a bit of luck, the Chimborazo can even be discovered far away.
Lloa
Through Quito's southern district we get to the small village of Lloa, from there we go first over paved roads and later with all-wheel drive up to the high plateau.
Refuge
At the refuge you will park your auto and start the hike.
Virgen de la Cinto viewpoint
Crossing the refuge, the path reaches the Virgen de la Cinto viewpoint. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Andean highlands.
Summit Guagua Pichincha
Ascending along the crater it goes to the pre-summit of the Guagua Pichincha and after a simple climb to the main summit. It goes back to the refuge over a sand field.
