Day 1

Hotel - Collantes Valley/Refuge

Early departure from your hotel to the small village of Releche at approx. 3000m. After breakfast you hike uphill to the Collanes Valley, with a little luck you can see the volcano El Altar in the clouds.

Day 1 - 2

Collantes Valley/Refuge

After 6-8 hours of hiking you will reach the Collantes refuge, which is built at approx. 3,850m. From the camp hawks and from time to time condors or Andean foxes can be observed. The breathtaking landscape is an ideal spot for fotos.

Day 2

Trekking to the yellow crater lake of the altar volcano

Today, after your breakfast, you will continue your hiking adventure. You reach the extraordinary and impressive crater lake, which glows yellow because of the high sulfur concentration.

There is ample opportunity to explore the Andean highlands. The hike leads you partly over steep sections to the crater rim at 4,200 m altitude with its impressive panorama.

Collanes valley / refuge - Hotel

The descent takes place on the ascent path. You will be expected at the Hacienda Releche and taken to your hotel.
