Day 1

Arriving form Quito to Coca

Your journey starts with a 35-minute flight from Quito to Coca, where the Sani staff will pick you up and transfer to a local hotel located on the banks of Napo River. There, your bilingual guides will explain about safety before embarking for a 2 ½ boat trip on the Napo River. During the journey you get a taste of the Amazon; ancestral communities, birds such as: herons, egrets, vultures, while enjoying a packed lunch. The staff will welcome you with refreshing cold drinks and snacks before you settle down in your cabins.

Walk through the amazing Amazon rainforest

In the late afternoon take a short walk. On the way you will meet monkeys, birds, black caimans and meet the amazing flora with cedars, orchids, bromeliads and others. Back at Sani Lodge, the chef awaits you with a wide selection of national and international dishes. In the evening you will be informed by your guide about the Amazon region.

Day 2

Excursion to observation tower

After breakfast, you can go by canoe for about half an hour on Challuacocha Lake, followed by a short walk to the 36 meter high observation tower. From the tower, you may observe over 560 species of birds, including macaws, toucans, flycatchers, hummingbirds, and with a bit of luck, a close-up of monkeys or sloths. Return to Sani Lodge for lunch.

Guided tour through the rainforest

n the afternoon, wander through the fabulous tropical rainforest and see orchids, lianas, figs, ancient trees and bromeliads. After dinner, go on a night walk with a nature guide to observe the various nocturnal animals of the jungle.

Day 3

Amazon riverboat

After breakfast, drive along the Napo River to Yasuní National Park where you will visit the parrot clay lick. Here you have a wonderful view of hundreds of parrots that gather around the mineral-rich earth. You see yellow-crowned, orange and blue-headed parrots. Then drive to the south of the Napo River within the Yasuní National Park and meet some species that are not found in the north, such as Golden-mantled monkeys and spider monkeys, blue and yellow macaws, and if you're lucky, you'll have a close encounter with white-lipped or collared peccary.

Visit Sani Community Center

Head back to Sani Community Center to visit a native community to get a taste of how a typical Kichwa family lives. Enjoy their food, drinks, customs, and culture, and learn how the lifestyle of the locals is environmentally sustainable. Return to the lodge late in the afternoon for a well-deserved diner. After diner take a night walk to see the nocturnal animals come alive.

Day 4

6-hour hike on the Chorongo Largo trail

This day is ideal for nature enthusiasts who wish to experience the Amazonian environment fully. Experience the hidden areas of Sani Lodge with a full-day adventure that includes a two-hour canoe ride through the lake and flooded forests, followed by a 6-hour hike on the Chorongo Largo trail. This trail is home to wildlife, including Jaguars, Pumas, Ocelots, Capuchin monkeys, Woolly Monkeys, Tapirs, and even Peccaries.

The canoe glides through the habitat of giant river otters, anacondas, and large caimans, surrounded by the magical landscape of the Amazon. It is a truly unique experience.

Lunch is served amidst the forest’s towering centenarian trees, lush ferns, climbing vines, and exquisite flora. The return trip to the lodge by paddle canoe provides another opportunity to spot wildlife.

Day 5

Transfer to Quito

After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to observe the monkeys on a walk along the shore before your return trip to Quito.
