Day 1
Arriving form Quito to Coca
Your journey starts with a 35-minute flight from Quito to Coca, where the Minga Lodge staff will pick you up and transfer to a local hotel located on the banks of Napo River. There, your bilingual guides will explain about safety before embarking for a 2 boat trip on the Napo River. During the journey you get a taste of the Amazon; ancestral communities, birds such as: herons, egrets, vultures, while enjoying a packed lunch. The staff will welcome you with refreshing cold drinks and snacks before you settle down in your cabins.
Walk through the amazing Amazon rainforest
Led by Indigenous experts from the area, hike deep into the primary and secondary rainforest to discover its unique flora and wildlife.
Shamanic traditional cleansing and Weapons Training
Join a local shaman for a traditional cleansing ceremony and blessing. And learn to throw a spear and shoot a blowgun from an indigenous weapons expert. Test your precision on papaya targets mounted on sticks.
Day 2
Birdwatching
Guided by local experts, canoe through a local tributary to observe incredible bird species and butterflies.
Visit the Minga Agricultural Learning Center
Situated on over 100 acres across the Rio Napo and where much of the food at Minga Lodge & Reserve is grown. Take a tour down “flavour alley” where you can taste some of the fresh fruits, vegetables and superfoods that are grown throughout the farm.
Bean to Bar: professionel chocolate making
Meet with the farmers who supply beans to a French chocolatier, then learn how to make chocolate from scratch using cocoa beans. In a professional test kitchen, finish off the experience with a chocolate tasting complemented by an array of unique and recognizable ingredients.
Night Walk
Experience the Amazon at night and look for frogs, butterflies, reptiles and more on a stroll around Caiman Pond.
Day 3
Coffee Tasting
Start your day with a coffeetasting (cupping) of locallysourced and expertly roasted Robusta coffee. Try your hand at scoring the aroma, acidity, body, and flavor of coffee prepared in several ways.
Visit a Local Female Artisan Group
Meet skilled female artisans and learn how they generate income through traditional jewelry making. Try your hand at their incredible craft.
Visit a Local Family
Spend an afternoon with a farmer and his family, working alongside them to understand the beauty and challenges of living and providing for your family in the Amazon rainforest.
Traditional Kichwa Cooking Class
Learn time-honored cooking techniques and sample some of the wonderful flavors of the jungle.
Day 4
Transfer to Quito
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to observe the monkeys on a walk along the shore before your return trip to Quito.
