Day 1
Transfer to the lodge
12:00 – Start of the Tour to Itamandi Ecolodge Your journey begins at the Arajuno River Bridge, where you will board a motorized canoe for a 20-minute ride upstream to reach Itamandi. Along the way, you can admire the magic and beauty of the Amazon rainforest.
Upon arrival at the lodge’s dock, our staff will warmly welcome you and provide a short introduction to your accommodation and the activities planned during your stay.
Tubing & Night hike
13:30 – Lunch Enjoy your lunch and recharge your energy for the afternoon ahead.
15:00 – Tubing In the afternoon, your first adventure awaits: tubing down the river on large inflatable tires, giving you the chance to experience the Amazon from up close.
18:30 – Night Walk (optional) Equipped with a flashlight and camera, you will explore the rainforest at night. Listen to the sounds of nature and watch for batfish, owls, insects, tarantulas, toads, frogs, and—if you are lucky—even snakes. On clear nights, you may also enjoy a breathtaking view of the star-filled sky.
19:30 – Dinner To end the day, a delicious dinner will be served in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 2
Hike through the rainforest and visit to the Kichwa community
07:00 – 08:30 – Breakfast Start your day with a breakfast at the lodge to fuel up for the activities ahead.
09:00 / 09:30 – Rainforest Hike After breakfast, embark on an extended hike through primary and secondary rainforest. Over approximately 2½ to 3 hours, discover the fascinating plant life of the Amazon and learn about the diverse wildlife and delicate ecosystem.
13:00 – Lunch Return to the lodge for a delicious lunch before the afternoon’s cultural activity.
14:30 – Visit to a Kichwa Community In the afternoon, visit an Amazonian Kichwa community and gain insight into their way of life and close connection to the forest. Learn how to prepare the traditional “Chicha,” a fermented manioc drink that plays an important role in both celebrations and daily life, and have the chance to taste it yourself.
You will also sample other typical regional dishes. The visit concludes with a traditional dance performed by the children of the community. Afterwards, there is the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts, directly supporting the daily lives of local families.
Day 3
AmaZOOnico and Anaconda Island
08:00 – Breakfast Start your day with a balanced breakfast at the lodge.
09:00 – Excursion to Anaconda Island and Visit to AmaZOOnico Board a canoe for a 40-minute ride upstream to Anaconda Island, where you will have the opportunity to observe the prehistoric Hoatzin bird, woolly monkeys, titi monkeys, and many other animals in their natural habitat.
During the visit, you will also meet a family from an indigenous community and gain insight into their farming methods, use of medicinal plants, and traditional hunting techniques with blowpipes and handmade traps.
A lunch package will be provided during the excursion.
After lunch, continue to AmaZOOnico, a conservation and rescue center for Amazonian animals, some of which are endangered. AmaZOOnico is not a zoo but a sanctuary dedicated to the care, rehabilitation, and release of rescued animals. Here, you can observe various species up close and learn more about rainforest conservation efforts.
Return to the Itamandi EcoLodge in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the lodge’s facilities.
19:30 – Dinner End the day with a delicious dinner in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Day 4
Saladero
05:45 – 06:00 – Departure to the Saladero (weather dependent) Before sunrise, embark on a 15-minute canoe ride upstream to visit the Parrot Saladero. Witness an extraordinary natural spectacle as hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather in the treetops and then descend to the clay wall to consume mineral-rich soil. These minerals help them digest the fruits and seeds they eat. A pair of binoculars is highly recommended to fully enjoy this unique experience.
07:00 – 08:30 – Breakfast Upon returning to the lodge, enjoy your final breakfast at the lodge before concluding your visit.
Return transfer
09:00 – Departure Board a motorized canoe for a 20-minute ride to the Arajuno Bridge.
