Quito - Guango - Archidona - Santa Rita - Misahualli
From Quito, head east along the main road where the 4,000 meter high Andes must be conquered before heading into the green Amazon region. Your first stop for a snack is the charming Guango Lodge, a sanctuary for 15 different species of hummingbirds and many other species of the mountain cloud forest. Continue southeast to the small village of Archidona in the Santa Rita Community, where the Pacari Agro tourism project was born. The project was initiated by Pacari, which is concerned, among other things, with providing fair prices. Tourism an additional welcome source of income for the rural population and help to support this worthwhile project.
You spend a pleasant and relaxing day in the community, learning how to harvest the cacao fruit and all other technical processes. The plantation is explored on foot, so you can admire the petroglyphs of indigenous cultures that populated the area thousands of years ago. After the hike, lunch will be served - a regional fish specialty cooked in palm leaves over the fire. There is tea from the Guayusa plant. After lunch, you will be involved in the production of chocolate with various typical regional ingredients and can also take something home to keep (or eat!). Continue to Misahualli, dinner and overnight at Hamadryade Lodge (or Hakuna Matata Lodge).

Misahualli - Papallacta - Quito
In the morning you have some time for yourself at the lodge to explore the forest and the butterfly garden.
In the forest you can observe many species of birds. Afterwards we head north again to higher altitudes where you stop at the Papallacta spas. There are hot, volcanic pools, a hotel and a spa. You can swim in the hot springs or enjoy a massage for an extra charge. There is even a chocolate massage for the chocolate lovers among you! Lunch will be enjoyed here in the afternoon before the return drive to Quito.
