Visit Otavalo and its surroundings

You leave Quito early in the morning and head north on the Panamericana along the Road of the Volcanoes. Your route takes you past impressive landscapes, greenhouses and the equator.

At your first stop you will have the opportunity to enjoy the traditional specialities of the region, such as the famous "bizcochos" (biscuits), "queso de hoja" (cheese wrapped in plant leaves) and "manjar de leche" (cream made of milk, sugar and vanilla).

The next stop is at a viewpoint on Lago San Pablo. The view from here of the surrounding area with the Imbabura volcano is simply magnificent.

Continue to the Peguche waterfall, which is still used by the locals for ritual ceremonies. Also discover the colourful murals of the "Otavaleños".

At your fourth stop, you will learn about the typical musical instruments of the Andes from the artists of the Ñanda Mañachi cultural centre.

The journey continues to the largest indigenous market in South America: the handicraft market of Otavalo. The market is home to a wide variety of handmade products. Browse for souvenirs to your heart's content.

Afterwards, you return to Quito. Subject to change. The order of stops may vary.
