Cotopaxi National Park and Limpiopungo
Early in the morning, the trip begins along the famous "road of the volcanoes" from Quito towards the south. Our first stop is the Cotopaxi National Park and the lagoon Limpiopungo. The Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in the world. Enjoy the breathtaking panorama during an easy walk. Afterwards we stop at Hacienda San Augustín de Callo, which was build on Inka walls and enjoy a typical soup. From there we drive on south and visit a traditional market in the area. Late in the afternoon we will arrive in Alausí, where we take the train the next morning. overnight in ***La Quinta Alausí.
Train ride to the Devils Nose and Ingapirca
Early in the morning we go to the station of Alausí. From there we take the "Andenbahn" along the Devils Nose - Nariz del Diablo, as the Ecuadorians call it. In the zig-zag it goes downhill and uphill again. At noon we continue south to Ingapirca - the only Inkaruinen in Ecuador. Overnight at Hotel Posada de Ingapirca.
From Ingapirca to Cuenca
In the morning we will be on the way to Cuenca and stop in Chordeleg, known throughout the country for its ceramics, gold and silver jewelery, and especially for their filigree work of gold and silver threads. In the early afternoon we reach Cuenca. In the evening we stroll through this fascinating city. Overnight at *** Victoria Hotel.
Visit the city of Cuenca
Today we take the entire day through the beautiful city of Cuenca - a cultural metropolis in southern Ecuador. The cozy and nostalgic atmosphere stands out for cobblestone sidewalks, colorful flower markets and noble facades with their ornate iron balconies. In the afternoon, enjoy the city on your own. Overnight at *** Victoria Hotel.
Hike through the Cajas National Park
Nowadays you can reach the Cajas National Park. Approximately 200 lagoons extend to an altitude of 3150-4450 meters. After a short walk we head for a pass to Guayaquil. On the way you will experience the magnificent change of vegetation of 4,000 meters at sea level. Arrival in Guayaquil is in the afternoon.
