Day 1
Salar de Uyuni and the Train Graveyard
Experience the intrigue of Salar de Uyuni, also known as the great Salt Flats of Bolivia.
Near Uyuni there is a train cemetery where you can see the abandoned locomotives of the 19th and 20th century. Salt mountains used by the locals for salt production open up to the beginning of the salt lake. In the village of Colchani you can buy souvenirs made from salt. Underground streams break through the salt crust, and bubbling salt springs, know as "the eyes of the Salar", can be seen across the flat.
Day 2
Tunupa Volcano
Continue to the volcano Tunupa, found near the town of Coquesa. On the way to the volcano there is a viewpoint offering a wonderful view down over the salt lake. Explore the small cave to discover Aymara mummies. Overnight accommodation at Hotel Jardines de Uyuni (3*).
