Day 1

Cuzco to Manu Wildlife Lodge

At five o'clock in the morning we leave Cuzco. We are in for a day trip in our private bus. The frequent stops make the long journey entertaining. We visit the Andean town of Ninamarca with its Inca towers and the colonial town of Paucartombo. After reaching an altitude of 3'900 m.a.s.l., we dive into the reserve of Manu National Park. Here we start exploring the incredible diversity of flora and fauna of the cloud forest. We discover orchids, primitive ferns as well as medicinal plants. With a little luck we will see our national bird, the red rock cock (Cock of the Rock), the woolly monkey and the cauchino monkey. We will also observe different species of parrots and macaws. In the afternoon we reach the boat harbor of Atalaya. Here our trip by car ends. Our adventure on the Madre de Dios River begins: We change into a typical motorboat, which takes us in 2.5 hours following the course of the river to the wonderful Ecolodge "Manu Wildlife Lodge". During the river trip we again have time to observe the rich fauna and flora. At the lodge we spend the first night of our extraordinary jungle experience.

Day 2

Manu Wildlife Lodge zum Treehouse Inn

After breakfast we leave again by boat. For two hours we follow the Palotoa River until we reach the TREEHOUSE INN Lodge. Here we spend the next two days. The TREEHOUSE INN is located in a local family owned ecological reserve. It covers several hundred hectares of Amazon rainforest with full biodiversity. This is a very special tropical forest: here you will find the tropical forests of the Andes and the lowlands of the Manu. This gives you the opportunity to observe a variety of birds, animals and plants from both areas, in addition to the endemic species.

We will explore the surroundings of the lodge on specially built and very interesting trails that will show us this incredible ecosystem in the form of a mysterious swamp where we can see the prehistoric bird Hoatzin, some alligators, capybaras, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, peccaries and different species of birds.

Afterwards there will be time until dinner to relax or enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal clear river. We also offer you the possibility to go fishing.

After dinner, the different sounds of the Amazonian night will put us in the right mood for our night hike: we will hear the sounds of the night monkeys - the only nocturnal primates in the world - the rat Kalinowski, the Great Potoo and the Pigmy Owl. If we are lucky, we can not only hear them, but observe them during our night walk. We also look for spiders and tarantulas, frogs and snakes. After this experience we spend the first night at Robles Tree House.

Day 3

Hike in the Rainforest

With the first light of day, at 5:00 am, we head to the parrot clay lick to watch the breathtaking spectacle of hundreds of parrots and large macaws gathering to lick clay.

For lunch, our cook surprises us with typical jungle food.

In the afternoon we visit another of the beautiful trails around our TREEHOUSE INN. We see a variety of animals and birds, an abundance of medicinal plants and huge trees.

After lunch we continue our adventure with river tubing and float down the Palotoa 'river.

Also that night we explore the forest with a flashlight in search of insects, snakes and the only nocturnal monkey or "douricouli".

In the evening we relax around a campfire, have a drink and a barbecue.

Day 4

Return through the cloud forest

After breakfast we will return to Cuzco. We return to Cuzco through the cloud forest and Paucartambo. On the way we can admire one last time the diversity of the jungle. We will arrive in Cuzco in the evening around 18.00 o'clock.
