Day 1
Drive to the Colca Canyon
Early in the morning (07:30) you start your approximately five-hour drive to the Colca Valley. On the way, with a bit of luck, you can admire the rare vicuñas, the protected relatives of the llamas. You will also get to know the special features of the Colca Valley during many shorter stops, enjoy the unique view of the valley and visit various villages typical of this region. To help you get used to the altitude (highest point 4,820 m), you will be served a cup of coca tea. This is a traditional Peruvian drink that is said to have many health-promoting properties. In the afternoon, your guide will take you on a short hike and then you can relax with a visit to the natural thermal springs before you are taken to your accommodation. Overnight stay at the Hotel Mamayacchi.
Day 2
Condor's Cross and Thermal Springs
Rise early to see the king of the Andes, the condor. In favorable weather conditions, the condors often rise only a few meters above the canyon to go hunting. Afterwards, take a short hike along the edge of the canyon and continue to the Antahuilque Lookout, from where you have a very good view of more than 1,500 year old pre-incan terraces. After returning to the village of Chivay, where you have time for lunch, return to your hotel for a quick rest.
In the afternoon you will visit the natural thermal baths situated between the picturesque mountains.
Overnight at Hotel Casa Andina or similar.
Day 3
Panoramic drive back to Arequipa
In the late morning, you will set off on the return journey to Arequipa, where you will arrive at around 4.00 pm. On the way, you can enjoy the view of the landscape and the herds of wild alpacas in the fields.
