Day 1

Drive to Otavalo and visit the Indio market

After breakfast you departure from Quito via the Panamericana and past the volcano Cayambe to the north. On the way, make a short stop in Guachalá and see an ancient equatorial monument. Here you can taste the delicious "Bizcochos de Cayambe". Bizcochos are a type of biscuit baked in a clay oven. Your next stop is at the "Miralago", a viewpoint high above the lake San Pablo. The view of the surrounding area is great. The trip then continues to Otavalo. The market houses a variety of different handmade products. You can walk around the market in peace and trade and haggle for souvenirs. You spent the night in the beautiful Hacienda Pinsaqui at the foot of the volcano Imbabura.

Day 2

Cuicocha Lagune - Papallacta

The drive in the morning goes up to the beautiful Cuicocha Lagoon, where you can take a hike to the crater rim. From there you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lake and the surrounding area. Then take a detour to the waterfall in Peguche before continuing to Papallacta. The drive to get there is breathtaking. The vegetation is in constant change. After about 1.5 hours driving time you reach a high plateau. Enthusiastic hikers can take a two-hour walk with a view of the volcano Antisana all the way down to Papallacta. Otherwise you drive on to Papallacta. Once there, you will be able to move to your rooms and have time to bathe in the hot springs. Overnight in Termas de Papallacta.

Day 3

Drive to the Amazon area

After breakfast you drive to Tena (about 2.5 hours). Your Amazon Lodge - Hakuna Matata (or comparable lodge) is romantically located just outside Tena on a river right in the middle of the lush nature. On the journey you will experience the fascinating change of vegetation from almost 3,800 meters down to about 600 meters. You can book an exciting program in your free afternoon. Depending on what makes you more enjoyable, you can swing on the backs of the hotel's horses and ride through the jungle and river or walk on the trail and explore the various flora and fauna on various hiking trails, including medicinal plants to be shown. However, you can also take part in our chocolate tour (all tours are optional, please let us know if you would like this program).

Day 4

Excursion in the Amazon area

You leave in the morning after breakfast and drive 2 hours to a small indigenous community on the banks of the Rio Arajuno, where you enter a small motorized canoe. In the Amazon region various activities are offered which depend on the climate, the number of participants and the special interests of the group participants. The bilingual nature guide (Spanish / English) determines the route and shows you the great variety of flora and fauna during the hikes and the canoeing. Lunch is served on the way. At around 6:00 pm you will be back at your lodge.

Day 5

Waterfalls in Baños

After breakfast you continue to Baños. In the evergreen surroundings there are numerous smaller and larger waterfalls and canyons that are worth definetly woth a visit. The waterfalls are all on the so-called "Waterfall Route" ("Ruta de las Cascadas"). The largest and most impressive waterfall is the "Pailon del Diablo" (Devil's Gorge). The last part of the 20-minute walk will take you across suspension bridge, which has a spectacular view of the falling water wall. The special feature of this waterfall is that you can approach the gorge and the waterfall up to a few meters. Overnight at the *** Hotel Sangay.

Day 6

Another day at Baños

A day at your leisure in the lively town of Baños, located at the foot of the volcano Tungurahua. Since 1998 the volcanoe has been active and regularly spitting lava and ash. For the visitors it is a grandiose natural spectacle. In Baños there are spring-like temperatures all year round. Baños' center offers many artisan stores, small restaurants and the specialty are sweets made from sugar cane. Because of its mild climate, Baños is the perfect place for numerous activities in nature: rafting, kayaking, cycling, hiking and much more. Overnight at the *** Hotel Sangay.

Day 7

Tour to the Quilotoa lagoon

In the morning you drive across the Avenue of Volcanoes towards the north. On the way you can visit one of the many markets in the area (Mondays: market in Ambato, Tuesdays: market in Latacunga, Wednesdays: market in Pujili, Thursdays: market in Saquisilí, Saturdays: market in Zumbahua market and Sundays: market in Pujili). Continue to the turquoise-blue Quilotoa lagoon. From the lookout point you have a breathtaking view of the lagoon which, depending on the sunshine, shines in different shades from dark blue to light turquoise. A narrow path leads down to the shores of the crater lake. The return path can either be walked on foot or be lifted by a mule. Then continue to your hacienda on the edge of Cotopaxi National Park. Overnight at Hacienda El Porvenir.

Day 8

The day at the Cotopaxi Nationalpark

Today you will spend a complete day at Cotopaxi National Park. You walk through the national park and have a good view of the highest active volcano in the world, the Cotopaxi. In the Limpiopungo lagoon is often the volcano reflected and is thus a perfect photo-motif. Overnight at Hacienda El Porvenir.

Day 9

Return to Quito

After your breakfast you return to Quito via the Avenue of Volcanoes.
