Your Travel Experience with Galapagos PRO
Day 1
Punta Arenas
Check-in is from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Av. Costanera del Estrecho 1398 (Port "Puerto Prat"), Punta Arenas. At 6:00 PM, you will board the cruise ship. The captain and his crew warmly welcome you and your fellow travelers with a welcome cocktail. After that, it’s “cast off!” for the journey to the southernmost point on Earth. Traveling through the legendary Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel, the voyage takes you through Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego: the great adventure begins!
Day 2
Ainsworth Bay - Tucker Islands
At dawn, the ship crosses the Almirantazgo Sound to Ainsworth Bay, near the Marinelli Glacier. This area vividly demonstrates how quickly life returns after the retreat of the eternal ice. You will hike to discover a beaver dam and marvel at the sub-Antarctic Magellanic rainforest. On the beach or the island, you will search for a colony of South American sea elephants. Since their exact location is uncertain, it is unclear whether you will spot them. Back on board, after lunch, you will reach the Tucker Islets, where you can observe Magellanic penguins and cormorants from inflatable boats. In September and April, this excursion is replaced with a visit to Brookes Bay, where you will go ashore and hike near the glacier of the same name.
Day 3
Pia Glacier - Glacier Avenue
You will sail along the northeastern arm of the Beagle Channel, heading toward Pia Bay, where you will go ashore near the glacier of the same name. An excursion will take you to a viewpoint offering a stunning view of the glacier in all its glory. The massive glacier tongue stretches from the mountains all the way to the sea. After this awe-inspiring experience, you will continue sailing through the northwestern arm of the Beagle Channel to admire the majestic "Glacier Alley."
Day 4
Cap Horn - Wulaia-Bucht
You will traverse the Murray Channel and go ashore at Wulaia Bay. This was once one of the largest settlements of the Yamana people, who explored the coasts in canoes. In 1833, Charles Darwin visited this historic site during his voyage aboard the Beagle. Before you unfolds an awe-inspiring natural spectacle: the vegetation and geography of the surroundings captivate with their beauty. You will hike through the Magellanic forest, passing lenga, coihue, and canelo trees, ferns, and other plants, until you reach a viewpoint.
In the afternoon, the journey continues south through Nassau Bay to the Cabo de Hornos National Park. Weather permitting, you will go ashore there. The mystical Cape Horn, discovered in 1616, rises as a nearly vertical 425-meter-high rock into the sky. Once a vital sea route for sailing ships between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, Cape Horn is now considered the "End of the World" and was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2005.
Day 5
Ushuaia
Arrival in Ushuaia, the most important Argentine city in Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in the world. Disembarkation will take place at either 8:30 AM or 9:30 AM, depending on the travel date.
