Excursion to Ahu Akivi and Puna Pau
Your first stop on this excursion is Ahu Akivi, one of the few Ahus that is not on the coast. The seven resurrected Moais are arranged according to the equinox, indicating the advanced knowledge of astronomy once known by the Rapa Nui. After visiting the Ahu Akivi, you will continue to the Puna Pau quarry, where the Moai were made of red rock. Additionally, you will also visit Hanga Poukura, an unrestored ahu, on the southern coast. Should this ahu not be accessible due to bad weather, you will visit Ahu Huri a Urenga restored Moai. After the tour you will be returned to the hotel.
