Visit of the famous Inca ruin Machu Picchu
In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the train station. Here you will board the train that will take you past small villages and through the beautiful landscape of the Urubamba Valley to Aguas Calientes. Once at the train station, you will walk a short distance to the bus station, from where a shuttle bus will take you up the switchbacks in about 30 minutes to the most fantastic set of ruins in all of South America. Machu Picchu, the "lost city of the Incas" was built in the 15th century at an altitude of 2,430 m on a mountain ridge and was only rediscovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. After the visit, you will take the shuttle bus back to Aguas Calientes and then the train back to Poroy or Ollantaytambo. You will be met at the train station and transferred to your hotel.
Please note: If you book only the visit to Machu Picchu, you will have up to four hours to walk the circuit number 4 (the additional ticket 'Huayna Picchu' will give you extra time). The circuit is a one-way street, you cannot go back or return to a site you have already visited. You can only visit what is included in the tour you bought in advance.
