Full-day excursion: Humahuaca, Tilcara, and Hornocal
The tour begins with a trip to see the 14-color mountains (Serranía de Hornocal).
Then continue towards the town of Tilcara, where you will visit the Pucará (ancient ruins), the Archaeological Museum, and Huacalera. Next, cross the southern tropic, from where you can see the colors of La Pollera de la Coya hill and take really good photos thanks to the daylight. You will visit Uquía and its church, which houses the paintings of the Arcabuceros angels (an important relic of the Cuzqueña school in this region).
Arrival in Humahuaca is scheduled for noon. This town has an important church and the Independence Monument (of the Indians) by the sculptor Soto Avendaño. After lunch, you will see the Paleta del Pintor (Painter's Palette) from the road, which frames the town of Maimara. You will continue to San Salvador de Jujuy, where you will visit the Flag Hall and the Cathedral with its wooden and gold carved pulpit and statues by Lola Mora. Finally, you will return to Salta via National Route 9 with its lush subtropical vegetation. The last stage is: El Abra de Santa Laura, with views of La Cienaga (The Swamp) dam, Las Maderas and Campo Alegre, and return to Salta via Vaqueros.
