Your Travel Experience with Galapagos PRO

Charles Darwin Station & Fausto Llerena Breeding Station

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Charles Darwin Station, located west of Puerto Ayora in Academy Bay. The Charles Darwin Station was founded in 1959 with the help of UNESCO and conservation organisations from around the world.

Directly next door is the Fausto Llerena tortoise breeding station, where you can follow the evolution of the Galapagos tortoise and visit the embalmed "Lonely George" - the most famous turtle in the world. Another attraction of the station is the Van Staelen exhibition, which shows the climate and geography of the islands as well as the evolution of the Islands' unique flora and fauna.

Visit Puerto Ayora and the fish market

Onwards to Puerto Ayora together with your tour guide to visit the fish market. Here you can join the sea lions and pelicans who watch the fishermen hauling their catch off the boats to weigh, gut and fillet. Right next to the fishermen's work area, in the fish market hungry guests can try the catch of the day.
