Day 1

Leaving Quito

The El Monte Ecolodge

11 am. You arrive at the El Monte Lodge by rental car, a private transfer or public transportation. Upon arrival, your guide will greet you, and you have time to unpack, look around and get comfortable in your cabaña.

1 pm. Lunch at the El Monte Ecolodge.

3 pm. A first walk through the surrounding jungle. You will walk approximately 1.5 to 2 hours along the Rio Mindo and discover a variety of orchid species, birds, and abundant flora.

5 pm. Time for you to relax, enjoy the jacuzzi, get a drink at the bar or play some games.

7 pm. Dinnertime and the activities for the next day are discussed.

Day 2

Example day at El Monte

6 am. Possibility to take part in an excursion.

6.30 am. Guided tour through the jungle to see toucans, parrots, quetzal and many other species of Youces; you may also encounter smaller mammals, such as squirrels and, in some places, rodents.

8 am. Breakfast at the El Monte Ecolodge.

9 am. On this guided tour, you will embark on a trail behind El Monte Ecolodge into the Nambillo Valley. You can spot numerous bird species along the course, and your journey ends at a waterfall with a crystal clear pool at its base. This tour takes about 3 to 3.5 hours.

1 pm. Lunch at the El Monte Ecolodge.

3 pm. In the afternoon, you will go white-water tubing. For this, you will proceed into the Rio Mindo, not far from El Monte Lodge. For about 30-40 minutes (dry season, slightly faster during the rainy season), you will go downstream until you reach Mindo. You will then be transferred back to El Monte Ecolodge.

5 pm. Time for you to relax, enjoy the jacuzzi, get a drink at the bar or play some games.

7 pm. Dinnertime and the activities for the next day are discussed.

Day 3

Return to Quito

6 am. Possibility to take part in an excursion.

6.30 am. Guided tour through the jungle to see toucans, parrots, quetzal and many other species of Youces; you may also encounter smaller mammals, such as squirrels and, in some places, rodents.

8 am. Breakfast at the El Monte Ecolodge.

9 am. This morning, you will embark on a tour to the zip lines in Mindo. Here you can slide down ten lines and experience the different levels. Two guides accompany each group, and you are secured at two points on the zip line.

1 pm. Lunch at the El Monte Ecolodge (Fee applies)
