Flight to Coca
A 30 minute flight takes you from Quito to the frontier town of Coca (Francisco de Orellana).
Transfer to Manatee
Transfer to the dock, where you will embark on a motorised canoe and navigate down river about 1 ½ hour, to board the MS Manatee
Afternoon: Waste no time discovering the Amazon, beginning with a night hike after your arrival. You have the opportunity to discover the incredible and beautiful atmosphere of the jungle at night, as well as the special nocturnal species that can only be viewed at this time of the day.
Morning: After a delicious breakfast, you disembark on land for our first daylight close-and-personal tropical rainforest experience, where you will learn about the relationship between the Amazon's plants and animals. This is another fantastic opportunity to discover the incredible biodiversity that this region has to offer.
Cuyabeno Nature Reserve
Afternoon: After lunch, the MS Manatee Explorer navigates to the black waters of the Amazon Basin, where you can see pink Amazon dolphins, black caimans and anacondas. With a little luck, you will see turtles, monkeys, various species of birds and sloths. A canoe ride upriver through an evergreen, tropical flooded forest takes you aboard the MS Manatee.
Meeting the Community
Morning: After breakfast, drive to a school on the banks of the Napo River to learn about the Amazon school system and the way of life and culture of children in an Amazonian indigenous communities.
Island of the Napo River
Afternoon: After lunch you will learn about life in the Amazon region and get to know local handicrafts and even have the chance to make them yourself. In the late afternoon visit one of the largest islands in the Napo River.
Morning: In the morning after breakfast, visit a 30 meter high observation tower built on a huge kapok tree. From the top of the tower you have a unique view over the treetops of the forest and you can see the grandeur of the Amazon basin in all its glory.
Limoncocha Biological Reserve
Nachmittags: After lunch, visit Limoncocha Biological Reserve - a fascinating protected area where more than 478 bird species and several monkey species have been recorded. This activity will extend into the evening, when you will have a chance to spot black caiman with the help of our flashlights. Return to the Anakonda for dinner.
Transfer to Coca
In the morning, disembark the Manatee and transfer by motorised canoe to Coca (1 ½ hour ride)
Transfer to Quito
Flight to Quito.
