Trip to the Quilotoa Lagoon
Today you drive south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes to the glorious turquoise waters of the Quilotoa Lagoon.
From the lookout at the Shalalá Lodge you have a spectacular view of the crater lake, sparkling beautiful shades of blue and turquoise in the changing daylight. A narrow path leads down to the shore of the lagoon and, if you prefer not to walk back up the hill, for a small price you can hitch a ride on a mule on the way back.
Afterward, we take the paved road through the golden patchwork countryside to visit the community of Tigua. There you can visit various craft shops, featuring unique and handmade treasures including pottery and the bright paintings of Andean life for which the village is known.
In the evening we will return to Quito.
