Visit Otavalo and Its Surroundings
Departure from Quito via the Panamerican Highway to Imbabura province. You will pass through the valley of Guayllabamba to the sundial of Quitsato, where the northern and southern hemispheres meet.
After this, head along to Miralago, a lookout high above the San Pablo Lake. This view of the surroundings is magical really should not be missed.
The next stop is the famous local markets of Otavalo in the central Plaza de Ponchos, where traditionally dressed indigenous townspeople sell colourful textiles and handicrafts. The market is home to a variety of different handmade products - the perfect spot if you're on the hunt for the ideal souvenir.
Then visit the Peguche Waterfall, a beautiful waterfall fed by the river of the same name, which begins at the San Pablo Lake. The waterfall is still used by the locals for ritual ceremonies today.
The last visit of the day is the Cuicocha lagoon in the Cotacachi district. The idyllic lagoon shines a beautiful blue in the afternoon sunshine.
After the lagoon, return to Quito.
