Drive from Quito to the ascent
2 day Cayambe ascent: Day 1: In the morning departure from Quito to the Cayambe nature reserve up to 4,400m altitude. Here you will get off the bus and be awaited by your local guide. You will hike together for around an hour to reach your cabin at 4,600m. From here you have a wonderful view of the glacial eruptions of the Cayambe. After resting and having lunch, you will be instructed in mountaineering, do the first exercises on the glacier and test your equipment. You return to the cabin where dinner is already waiting for you. At about 06:00 PM, the sun sets on the horizon and makes the Cayambe glow red - a great sight! After dinner, try to sleep so that you are ready for the upcoming ascent. Overnight in the Ruales-Oleas mountain hut. At midnight you are awakened.
2 day Chimborazo ascent: Day 1: You will be picked up early in the morning by a Spanish-speaking driver and drive along the Road of the Volcanoes towards the Chimborazo. From the Hermanos Carrel Cabin (4,800 m) you hike for about 45 minutes to the Whymper Mountain Hut (5,000 m), where you can rest, eat dinner and prepare for the ascent. Overnight in the Whymper mountain lodge.
2 day Cotopaxi ascent: Day 1: You will be picked up early in the morning by a Spanish speaking driver and will arrive at Cotopaxi National Park in about 1.5 hours. You walk for about an hour to the José Rivas mountain hut (4,800 m). On the way you can already enjoy the magnificent view of the Cotopaxi. In the afternoon you practice the use of glacier equipment with your guide. After dinner you prepare for the ascent. Overnight in the José Ribas mountain hut.
2 day Illiniza North ascent: Day 1: You will be picked up in the morning by a Spanish speaking driver and after about 2 hours you will reach the foot of the Illinizas (La Virgen). Arrive at the Illinizas Refuge and begin a three-hour hike to the Nuevos Horizontes Mountain Hut (4,650 m), where you can have dinner and spend the night. Overnight in the Nuevos Horizontes mountain hut.
Climb day 2 and return to Quito
2 day Cayambe ascent: Day 2: At 01:00 at night, meet with the guide in front of the hut and start climbing to the summit of Cayambe to 5,790 meters. Depending on your condition and physical form, you need 4 to 6 hours for the ascent. The first piece is very steep and leads over scree to the glacier. From here you need crampons and pimples. They will rappel and slow down as the altitude begins to make itself felt. At 05:00, the horizon brightens and you get a first glimpse of the Cotopaxi, Chimborazo and Antisana emerging in the red sunlight - just overwhelming! You can already see the summit of Cayambes and get a boost of energy to create the last 200 meters of altitude. Just in time for sunrise at 06:00 clock you finally reach the summit. The efforts and efforts of the last hours will be rewarded with a view of the landscape of the northern hills of Quito, the surrounding towns and lagoons, as well as Lake San Pablo and Laguna Cuicocha. After enjoying the view, descend in about 2 hours, back to your cabin. From here you will be picked up and brought back to Quito.
2 day Chimborazo ascent: Day 2: You leave at midnight and after about 8 hours you reach the Veintimilla peak (6,270 m) and then the Whymper peak (6,310 m). From here you can enjoy the breathtaking mountain panorama. Around noon you will be back in the mountain hut where you can rest a bit. After having a rest, you will be driven back to Quito by a Spanish speaking driver along the volcanic road and taken to your hotel.
2 day Cotopaxi ascent: Day 2: Around midnight you will leave with your guide and reach the summit after 7 hours. Here you can enjoy a breathtaking sunrise. After the descent you can relax in the mountain hut. After you have rested a bit, you will be driven back to Quito by a Spanish speaking driver and taken to your hotel.
2 day Illiniza North ascent: Day 2: At dawn climb about 4 hours along the rocky ridge to the summit. Here you can enjoy a breathtaking view before you make your way back to the mountain hut. After regaining strength at the hut, head back to Quito. Your Spanish speaking driver will take you back to your hotel.
