Cuenca to Cajas National Park
You will leave Cuenca in the morning in direction north-west. After driving for 29km you will reach the Cajas National Park.
Cajas National Park
Cajas National Park is also known as the park of the hundred lagoons for the more than 200 lakes and lagoons at altitudes between 3,150 to 4,400 metersthat shape its beautiful landscape. You will hike at an easy rate for one hour at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level (9,842ft). You will continue your visit until you get to a point called “tres cruces” which forms the Continental divide between the Pacific and the Atlantic ocean at an altitude of 4,135m (13,566ft), you will have a short walk to observe this interesting area.
Transfer to Guayaquil
After exploring the Cajas National Park, you take the road again where you begin a dramatic decline to reach the coast of Ecuador. During your descent, you will be able to observe the Andean mountain scenery and its contrast with the coastal vegetation including plantations of bananas and cacao beans while you get closer to Guayaquil.
