Ecuador's highest mountain
After breakfast, leave Quito heading south and drive along the breathtaking Avenues of Volcanos. During the trip you can admire the Andean panorama, reaching an altitude of 3,600 meters. After arriving at the old colonial hacienda, you can explore the entire farm with its enchanting surroundings on horseback and enjoy the wonderful view of the surrounding volcanoes. You may prefer to visit the climbing park or take a hike with a view of the Cotopaxi. In the afternoon, continue to the highest mountain of Ecuador, the Chimborazo. In a lodge in the national park at the foot of this imposing mountain, you end the first day at by the lodge's fireplace.

Up to the Whymper hut
After breakfast, drive to the national park Chimborazo and arrive at 4,900 meters at the Carrel hut. From there, climb about 200 meters further to the Whymper Hut, named after the British first-climber Edward Whymper. If you remember to bring your passport ,you can get it stamped here. Depending on the physical condition of the participants and the weather, you may be able to hike up a little further. In the afternoon, continue driving towards the Llanganates National Park, known as the sacred mountain, until the town of Baños, located at the entrance of the Amazon. Enjoy Ecuador's best nightlife with some cocktails and salsa dancing.

Biking in the Llangatanes National Park
Mountain bike from the Llanganates National Park down to the Pastaza River Canyon, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the cloud forest. The road leads through several Andean farms and a beautiful canyon with many waterfalls. While descending into the jungle, catch the breathtaking view of Baños, very well known for its spectacular location right on the foothills of the Tungurahua volcano. In the afternoon you will have some time to explore the town and then enjoy the best night life.

Road of Waterfalls and canyoning in the Amazon
This morning you will explore the Road of Waterfalls. The first stop will be at Bride's Veil Waterfall, where you can cross the Pastaza River with the cable car. Hike to the imposing Pailon del Diablo waterfall - the second highest in Ecuador. Later, delve deeper into the jungle of Llanganates National Park. The name Llanganates means "beautiful mountain" in the local language. 600 years ago, the Incas hid their treasures here. Researchers spent many years looking for this treasure, but part of it has disappeared forever in this thick, untouched jungle.
During a 3 hour hike through the tropical jungle, you will ascend along several white waterfalls. Keep your rubber boots ready to enjoy the splendor of the Ecuadorean Amazon. Your local guide will tell you in detail about all the incredible nature and animals of the region. Spend the night in the local jungle lodge.

Jatunyacu river rafting and volcanic hot springs
Greet the day by preparing to paddle the wild waves of the Jatunyacu River, located one hour away from the entrance of the Llanganates National Park. The beauty of this river will inspire you and reveal the magic of the Amazon rainforest. After a very important safety briefing from the expert rafting guides, you will be challenged with a class III rafting expedition down the Jatunyacu River, well known for its clean water and awesome rapids.
During this trip there will be some games to play and also exploring one of the canyons. The journey ends with a picnic, prepared by the guides. Drive back up to the Andes, stopping to visit the paradise of hummingbirds in Guango Reserve and finally continuing up to the volcanic hot springs resort.

Cloud Forest Hike and Otavalo Market
After a 2 hour bird-watching tour through the cloud forest, travel across the Andes to visit Otavalo and its amazing indigenous handicraft market - a perfect stop for shopping and discovering the specialties of the market.
Later in the afternoon, on the slopes of Imbabura volcano you have the opportunity to enjoy a nice cultural encounter with the local people and learn the traditional way of living while sharing the daily activities with the families. In the evening, take part of an organic cooking lesson using the local products. Our accommodation for the night will be a home-stay at different local families of the San Clemente community.

Cuicocha Lagoon Hike
Today's challenge is a 5 hour hike around the Cuicocha lagoon, with breathtaking views of the active volcano and of the amazing valleys located in Cotacachi-Cayapas ecological reserve.
At the end of the hike, you will take a boat ride to the centre of the crater to observe the activity of this volcano, watching bubbles coming up from the centre of the caldera. Once here, you will be able to jump in and go for a refreshing swim in the volcanic waters. In the afternoon you will drive back to Quito.

Otavalo Poncho Market and Return to Quito
Today you will visit the most famous handicraft market in South America: the Poncho market in Otavalo. Offering ponchos, hanging mats, bags, scarves and much more - the Otavalenos are famous for their textiles. On saturdays is also still livestock and general market day.
After a long and interesting stroll, drive back to Quito in the early afternoon. Meals included: Breakfast
