Day 1

Cotopaxi National Park and Limpiopungo

Your journey along the famous Avenue of Volcanoes begins early in the morning in Quito. Cotopaxi National Park and the Limpiopungo lagoon will be your first port of call. Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in the world - we recommend enjoying the breathtaking panorama during an easy walk. Your next stop is the gorgeous Quilotoa Lagoon. Take a short hike around the caledra with a view over the sparkling lagoon below. Your day ends at the foot of Ecuador's highest mountain, Chimborazo.

Overnight in the 3* Chimborazo Lodge (or equivalent).

Day 2

Hike around Chimborazo, Devil's Nose

A walk at the foot of the majestic extinct volcano, Chimborazo, reveals a magnificent view of the mountain's summit. Chimborazo is known to have fascinated the famous natural scientist Alexander von Humboldt over 200 years ago. Afterwards, drive to the train station in Alusi.

From the train station of Alausí, take the Andean Railway along the Devil's Nose - locally knows as Nariz del Diablo. Zigzagging downhill and uphill again, revealing enchanting and impressive landscapes.

Early in the afternoon we continue south towards Cuenca. Depending on the time of the day we stop briefly in Ingapirca, one of the few inca sites in Ecuador. In the evening we reach Cuenca.

Overnight in the 3* Casa de Aguila (or equivalent).

Day 3

Visit the city of Cuenca

Spend the entire morning discovering the beautiful city of Cuenca - a cultural metropolis in southern Ecuador. The relaxed, inviting atmosphere stands out amongst the cobblestone sidewalks, colorful flower markets and noble facades with ornate iron balconies.

In the afternoon, wind your way south through the gorgeous Cajas National Park, driving from 4,200 meters to sea level over the course of an hour. Arguably the most picturesque of Ecuador's National Parks, this beautiful area cannot be accurately described with words alone.

Explore Guayaquil in the evening.
